Travelling with pets
Train interior concept
2020
The project includes the interior design of the carriages and the development of service elements to improve the travel experience for pet owners. Encouraging travellers with pets to travel by rail rather than car is good for both the operator and the environment.
The solution takes into account the needs of dogs and cats, which have been consulted with a behaviourist. It focuses on the proximity of the caregiver and the reduction of irritants from the corridor. The aim of the work was to create comfort for pet owners and to ensure that other passengers felt safe.
The slide-in seat along with other movable elements allow you to change the standard place into a playpen for quadrupeds. Thanks to this, the seat can be taken also by typical passengers.
A dedicated for animal area should be close to exit to enable easy finding and quick exit. Leaving the luggage on a an easily accessible shelf uder the armchair or next to it allows us to control the behavior of the dog while preparing for departure.
The passenger has the option of temporarily leaving the pet unattended, thanks to special safety features.
The multi-use mat and easy access to the bins promotes cleanliness.
The carrier’s app reminds you to tidy up your seat before exiting the vehicle.
Combining the pull-out mat system with a nearby washroom helps to streamline staff workflow.
Users can plan their trip with a pet at the ticket purchase stage. The app informs them of their options and gives their fellow passengers an early signal about their four-legged neighbor.
